Optimistic about the future

After a few hours in the office yesterday morning I was able to step out and attend the Auburn Hills Optimist Club Boys Oratorical Competition. We listened to eight 8th graders give approximately 5 minutes speeches on how optimism helps them overcome obstacles.

To say the least, I was very impressed with not only their speaking skills but the thought processes of these young men. Avondale is helping to groom future leaders in the community, and another neat thing is some of these kids were not born in the USA, but have adapted well and integrated themselves into the American Culture.

It was a great boost to my energy level as I head over to Europe to do some retention visits for three companies located in Auburn Hills and explain the benefits for those companies thinking about locating where the world comes to do business.

We have so much to offer. Not only do we understand and listen to businesses but the quality of life issues and access to so many great organizations is hard to match. Hopefully you will enjoy some guest bloggers next week as I believe our time schedules and meetings will keep me hoping (although I may try to slip one in from over the pond).
