Peter Auger, Auburn Hills City Manager
Thoughts on running a city, daily musings, and everything in between.
City Manager, Auburn Hills, MI
By Karrie Marsh, Executive Assistant and Guest Blogger,
I only drive 14 miles to work each morning. I spend the majority of my drive time on I-75 so I don’t spend much time in the car compared to most people. Years ago, I had a much longer commute to a previous job. I remember thinking that the stress caused by traffic jams, the constant stopping and going, and distracted drivers could cause someone a heart attack.
Most of us tend to run errands on the way to work or on the way home. It makes sense that most business is done either in your own community or close to work.
The City of Auburn Hills is 17.5 square miles and has 21,000+ residents. The daytime population is 80,000. In other words, there are a lot of people driving to Auburn Hills each morning! I don’t know what percent of the population are working mothers, but I am guessing there are quite a few that probably make a stop at childcare centers so their children are cared for while they are at work. It can’t always be easy finding one close to home or close to work.
Good news for the residents and commuters coming to Auburn Hills each day! The Montessori Preschool of Auburn Hills located at 3388 Five Points Drive is now open and accepting enrollments for children 6-weeks to 5 years old.
The Montessori Preschool is Rainbow Child Care Center’s newest addition to its family of premier education companies. “We are very proud to introduce an alternative for families that are seeking a Montessori education and confident that The Montessori Preschool will provide high quality, individualized programs that inspire a life-long love of learning for each child,” said Karen Krygier, Chief Operating Officer for Rainbow Child Care Center.
The Primary program features traditional Montessori multi-age classroom settings guided by Montessori trained teachers. Full and half day schedules are available to meet individual family needs. Operating hours are 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
